This is a photo documentation of a non-dialogue film - Acoustic Life 人声 (can be found under FILM section). This viral video sums up the everyday life of the average Singaporeans in Chinatown. It also aims to draw the audience closer to the city, as it encompasses of the sounds and sights we encounter daily in this distinctive Chinese heritage place.

 

Together as a whole, we take up the role of explorers and make observations in this ordinary town – examining the blocks of flat, streets, alleys, markets, shop houses and the different trades. As we go about leading our everyday in this fast pace urban, rushing from one destination to another, we have lost the patience to pause and pay attention to the details around us.

 

In this film, the noise and sound are use as reminders for the audience to appreciate the elements, be it people or objects that make this island the uniquely Singapore where the familiar becomes unfamiliar and the old becomes new.​
